Suffolk University Law Schools nationally ranked Clinical Programs welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor to launch a new Environmental Law Clinic starting in the 2023-24 academic year. The Environmental Law Clinic (ELC) would be one of two new clinics for the 2023-24 school year, bringing to 14 the number of in-house clinics designed to meet growing student demand. The visitor will supervise, mentor, and advise clinical students in their case and project work and teach the related clinical seminar. The Visitor may teach a non-clinical course in a related subject area, but this is not a requirement.
Position Description:
The visitor would design, launch, and direct Suffolks new ELC. The ELC would be a full-year clinic offered for 10 credits (5 credits/semester) serving students in their last 2 years of law school. Students enrolled in the ELC would work on a variety of environmental law matters, potentially including administrative matters at the state and federal levels, litigation, and policy and advocacy projects. We envision the visitor will establish a hybrid style Clinic in which students will partner with local and national law offices and agencies that perform legal work, and that students will benefit from the joint supervision by the visitor and on-site supervisors. The clinic would partner with private firms, non-profit organizations, as well as governmental agencies. Students may also engage in in-house project-based work. The design and docket of the ELC will be determined in part by the visitors expertise and interests, in consultation with the Associate Dean for Experiential Learning.
