The Associate for Institutional Research is responsible for producing information on institutional data to advance educational policy, administrative decisions, enrollment planning, and assessment activities. This includes, but not limited to, producing and analyzing predictive data, various ad hoc reports for the college, departments, administrators, and committees on academic performance; outcomes assessment, department accreditations, self-studies, and required state, federal, and other regulatory reporting. 

The Associate for Institutional Research reports to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness.

Principal duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the data expert for the college including assistance with predictive modeling, data analysis, and reporting
  • Shared responsibility with Registrar for select reports such as SUNY/NYSED/IPEDS/USDOE and other agency reporting
  • Create, implement, and analyze surveys
  • Participate as an active member of the Institutional Review Board and Data Governance Council
  • Compile reports from student information system (Banner) and organize the data warehouse
  • Serve as liaison between SUNY System IR office and campus
  • Update and maintain the Institutional Research webpage
  • Generate academic program review data
  • Compute SUNY/ACT surveys and required outside surveys
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Payroll for faculty/staff data management
  • Compute internal and external requests for student data as needed
  • Create and generate on-demand surveys such as graduate surveys and grants reporting
  • Create analytics to monitor and assess institutional effectiveness, including success in executing the strategic plan.
  • Participate in SUNY-wide institutional research programs and activities
  • Oversee staff in the Office of Institutional Research

Requirements:

  • Master's degree with five or more years of progressively responsible research or statistical experience
  • Professional analytical experience which demonstrates ability to conduct substantive surveys and studies in assigned areas
  • Expertise and familiarity with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R)
  • Expertise and familiarity with data visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience working with and extracting data from a student information system
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to explain/present statistical analytical data clearly and effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's degree in educational research, social sciences, evaluation, psychometrics, or other related disciplines
  • Experience with analytic languages (e.g. python) and predictive analytic techniques
  • Experience with Banner
  • Experience working in higher education

Additional Information:

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
  • Will consider 50% remote work
  • Obligation: This is a full-time, 12-month position onsite position
