Job Description:

The Director of Education and Outreach, WSRE position develops and executes engaging early learning programs and other education initiatives for families and schools and professional development activities for teachers utilizing PBS resources delivered by WSRE PBS, the non-profit public television station licensed to Pensacola State College, to communities throughout the station’s Northwest Florida/Coastal Alabama coverage area. This position manages and builds lasting partnerships to maximize the impact of signature literacy initiatives, like Ready to Learn, and PBS LearningMedia classroom resources. The position supervises community engagement staff and volunteers. Reports to the General Manager, WSRE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, early childhood or other relevant field and minimum five years of professional experience working within an educational setting or working with families. Successful results of a background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to design and deliver training for PreK-3rd grade classrooms and early childhood professionals in childcare environments; excellent writing, organizational and project management skills; and familiarity or experience with public media content.

SALARY RANGE: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00
