Position Summary:
The University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho invites applications for the Vandal Gateway Program (VGP), Program Coordinator. This program is funded for a period of three-years with the possibility of renewal.
Central to this role is providing access to higher education for first year students who show promise to succeed under a structured academic and social support program. This position will coordinate the Vandal Gateway Program (VGP), which includes working with a wide variety of departments and university programs (i.e., academic advising, student housing, student services, etc.) across the campus involved in supporting student success. The position will also coordinate and implement appropriate student support in areas such as: academic counseling, academic support, mentorship, student social transition programming, study strategies, student education plans, and other academic follow-up needs as appropriate. The Coordinator will assess the outcomes of the Vandal Gateway Program each semester and will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in education or counseling • Two years progressive experience in leadership, supervision, program development, and assessment;
• Experience working with students who need holistic support to succeed in a university curriculum, particularly first-generation students;
• Experience with programs and services that advance student success and persistence in higher education;
• Prior student counseling and or advising experience;
• Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, data bases, and spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree or PhD in education or related field
• 5 years of progressive experience in leadership, program development, and assessment
• Experience developing and implementing student-centered strategic initiatives in a higher education setting
• Demonstrated successful collaboration across university units.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
