Job Summary/Basic Function:

Be a part of the outstanding Music Department at Brazosport College, a two-time Top 10 finalist for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and Achieving the Dream Leader College, as our next dynamic and innovative faculty member in Music/Choir. Brazosport College has a magnificent 600-seat performance hall designed to meet the highest acoustical standards for today’s live music performances. Containing rehearsal halls for vocal and instrumental music, individual practice rooms, faculty offices, classrooms, and green room, the Clarion encompasses approximately 29,000 square feet of custom-designed space, providing an exciting venue for the performance, appreciation, and learning opportunities of music.
 

This Music/Choir faculty position will be responsible for directing college vocal groups such as Chamber Choir, College Singers, Civic Chorus and/or Jazz Singers. Additional teaching responsibilities using traditional and alternative delivery methods will include some combination of the following courses: music appreciation, music theory, ear training and sight-singing, class piano, applied lessons, as well as prepare curriculum, including writing syllabi, developing new courses, selecting textbooks, etc. This position reports to the Division Chair of Communication and Fine Arts and may include teaching on campus and at offsite locations, including local high schools. Additional responsibilities: assists in the advisement of students; serves on various assigned college committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Music or a master’s degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Music from a regionally accredited college or university; demonstrated excellence in choral directing; outstanding musicianship; demonstrated ability in working with culturally diverse populations; excellent written and oral communication skills; interest in alternative instructional delivery methods; teaching experience at the community college level desirable; other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution; exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration.
