Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure, the Sr. Manager Information Technology is responsible for server and database administration, management of network equipment, and troubleshooting network problems.

Representative Duties:
  • Install, maintain and upgrade PC servers. E
  • Install and configure various network equipment; such as routers, switches, hubs and access points. E
  • Troubleshoot server and network problems as they arise. E
  • Respond to user requests for assistance and malfunction correction: serve as a technical resource to users, providing technical information and assistance. E
  • Operate a variety of microcomputers, and peripheral equipment such as printers, hardware and software diagnostic tools and appropriate utilities. E
  • Determine the need for repair or replacement of equipment. E
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Of:
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows server OS and other network operating systems
  • Layer-2 and layer-3 networking
  • Configuring and administering wireless networks
  • Advanced experience in utilization of diagnostic software and utilities
  • Operation and installation of hardware and software systems
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • Inventory methods and practices
  • Technical aspects of field of specialty
  • Oral and written communication skills


Ability To:
  • Perform specialized duties in the maintenance of microcomputer hardware
  • Set up and maintain microcomputer software and related systems and applications
  • Respond to user requests for assistance and malfunction correction and provide technical support
  • Serve as a technical resource to users in the use of microcomputers and related equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting in person and over the phone
  • Perform basic diagnostic checks and take appropriate corrective action
  • Read, interpret and apply detailed and technical manuals and oral instructions
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Operate computers and peripheral equipment properly and efficiently
  • Work independently with little direction
  • Meet schedules and timelines
  • Supervise staff and facilitate meetings


Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: B.S in Computer Science or related degree and six years of experience managing Windows or Linux servers, storage, VMs, Layer-2 and Layer-3 networking equipment, and four years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience at Associate Director or Director level within an academic institution
IT certifications a plus
