Summary Position
The Assistant Director for Student Care and Outreach position will focus on promoting a holistic approach to student success through administrative outreach/coordination for student concern and well-being. The Assistant Director is a resource, advocate, and liaison for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, parents, families, and community partners to support and contribute to student success at Elon University.

This position will be supervised by the Director of Student Care and Outreach.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years post-degree experience required; master’s degree in higher education, student development, counseling, social work, or a related field preferred; experience providing non-clinical case management, emergency response, and outreach at an institution of higher education preferred.

• Experience and training in working with diverse populations and a demonstrated, articulable commitment to inclusion practices is required;
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to write concisely and professionally. Must be a proficient public speaker with demonstrated experience in large-scale trainings and presentations; Bilingual Spanish/English skills are desired, but not required;
• Ability to work independently, take personal initiative, and work within a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with others in the development and delivery of programs across the university;
• Preference for experience with data analytics, including the ability to navigate and perform operations on large data sets and the ability to synthesize data into user-friendly formats;
• Understanding of legal issues and relevant state and federal laws related to higher education and student affairs administration (including FERPA, ADA, Clery, and Title IX).

General Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director for Student Care and Outreach position will focus on promoting a holistic approach to student success through administrative outreach/coordination for student concern and well-being. The Assistant Director is a resource, advocate, and liaison for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, parents, families, and community partners to support and contribute to student success at Elon University.

This position will be supervised by the Director of Student Care and Outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as a resource and provide consultation, referral, and follow-up for students needing additional support in a variety of wellness- related areas of focus, including social connectedness, academic success, mental health, physical wellbeing, and financial wellbeing, among others;
• Work collaboratively with other departments within the Division of Student Life and across the University to identify and align systems of support, opportunities, services and referrals for student success;
• Provide targeted educational outreach and trainings to families, faculty, staff, and students based on campus requests and assessment needs data;
• Participate in the assessment of student development needs and the design of new programs, services, and communication strategies to respond to those needs;
• Serve as primary liaison to selected student populations to assist with building relationships and processes to ensure awareness of available resources;
• Assist with support and contact for students returning from Medical Leave of Absence;
• Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality with regard to student health, counseling and educational records;
• Participate as a member of the Student Care Team;
• Engage on division and university committees related to health and wellness support for students;
• Participate in an on-call capacity as a member of the Student Life Emergency Response Team at Elon. While on-call, staff members may be expected to respond physically to campus or other locations from home and respond to late night or early morning situations.
• Participate in annual, large scale programs that may involve evening or weekend hours (typically convocation, commencement, family weekend or similar);
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience
