Job Description
The Department of Educational Leadership in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a tenure-track position of Educational Leadership at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin as early as spring 2023. Rank will be determined upon qualifications.
Our graduates use scholarly inquiry and practice to guide decisions on all levels of educational activity, in K-12 and higher education settings. We are seeking a critical research scholar with experience in higher education to help prepare outstanding education leaders at all levels and advance the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) mission of the university. The ideal candidate is one who is prepared to help build scholarly capacity in our students that allows them to investigate and deal with social issues of equity and democracy in educational organizations.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach both online and face-to-face classes and will be expected to be on campus for teaching, service, and office hours at least 2-3 days per week. May involve night, weekend, and electronic course delivery. This faculty member is projected to teach specifically core coursework under the duties and responsibilities below:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the University's teaching, research, and service
missions
- Teaches core graduate courses in the Educational Leadership
Ed.D. and anticipated Higher Education Administration Master's
programs
- Serves graduate students as faculty advisor and serve/chair on
dissertation committees
- Produces peer-reviewed scholarship and contributes to the
research relevant to the COEHD mission and surrounding
communities
- Serves on department, college, and university committees and
attends general academic meetings, commencement, and other special
events
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in Higher Education administration, Student
Affairs, or Educational Leadership with a cognate in Higher
Education, or related field. Advanced ABD will be considered;
degree must be conferred by time of appointment
- Demonstrated evidence or potential to engage in
scholarly/creative works and teaching to enhance the HSI mission of
the university and broader issues of equity and social justice
utilizing critical methodologies
- Commitment to teaching/mentoring underrepresented students,
including ongoing efforts to improve pedagogy and student
outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior university-level teaching experience in a variety of
delivery modalities, to include evidence of face-to-face, online,
or hybrid instruction
- Experience seeking external grants and/or managing funded
projects
- A record of professional leadership experience in an
educational setting (higher education, college access, or related
field)
- Well-rounded expertise in quantitative, qualitative and mixed
methodologies
