Position Summary:

This position provides efficient classroom and events support with a strong customer service commitment and user satisfaction as the ultimate goal. This position has two major areas of responsibility: 1) support students, faculty and staff in use of A/V equipment and in the creation of A/V presentations; 2) troubleshoot, maintain and repair audio/visual equipment in classrooms and other campus venues to support classrooms and events.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Classroom support
    Provide direct user support by answering phones and responding to user requests sent via email/tickets, or by visiting classrooms or other campus venues to assist users in-person. Support faculty as they interact with classroom technology, including training of faculty on classroom media equipment and troubleshooting defective technology.

2. Classroom equipment maintenance
    Program, install, and repair A/V equipment in classrooms and event spaces such as hanging projectors, pulling cable through conduit, wiring ceiling speakers as well as editing configurations for A/V equipment control processors and wiring those processors to switchers and control surfaces via LAN or serial connections.

3. Event support
    Provide video and/or audio support and setup for special lectures, conferences, and other campus events. Arrange, schedule and provide direct video recording services for campus events and university related projects.

4. Other support
    Oversee the checkout of A/V equipment to the campus community, including inventory management. Provide technical expertise, consultation and support for users in the use of A/V equipment and software and in development of multimedia and A/V presentations. Provide direct support of media production such as audio and video encoding and editing, including training student staff in support of these activities. Digitize media from the University Library and manage a library of digitized content for faculty use. Assist the Media Services Lead in the day to day affairs of Media Services, including media desk backup, assigning work to student workers as appropriate, maintenance, repair delivery and circulation of A/V equipment. Provide input and feedback in order to improve service, including collaborating with other Technology Service members to create documentation for Technology Service staff and for users. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or 2 years related experience performing the essential job functions.
  • 2 years experience in the use of audio and video recording equipment and software to edit and produce finished audio and video presentations.
  • 1 year experience in installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of analog and digital A/V equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation, as well as the ability to work as a flexible, collaborative, and supportive team member.
  • Intellectual flexibility and technical curiosity, including ability to learn independently. Able to occasionally work evening and weekend hours as needed to support events. Able to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Extron Certification
  • Bachelor's degree and experience working in Higher Education IT
  • Experience with Extron applications
  • Experience with Adobe suite
