The University of Wisconsin-Parkside seeks a strategic, creative, and collaborative leader to serve as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services & Admissions Director (AVC). Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services, the AVC will provide strong leadership, strategic direction, and fiscal oversight for the areas of Scholarships & Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, and Military & Veterans Success Center, and will provide direct operational oversight for the Office of Admissions. The AVC will have primary responsibility for advancing UW-Parkside’s enrollment management goals in alignment with the university’s mission, vision, and strategic plans. With the support of the Chancellor, Provost, and VC for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services, the AVC will work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and sustain a campus-wide enrollment management philosophy/culture that integrates all aspects of recruitment, retention, and persistence in support of enrollment growth and student success.
The AVC serves as a member of the Student Affairs & Enrollment Services leadership team and will have a seat on the Chancellor’s Cabinet and Provost’s Academic Cabinet. The AVC will work closely with the four College Deans, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Assistant Provost for Student Success, Director of Housing & Residence Life, Associate Director for Orientation & First Year Programming, University Marketing Manager, International Student Services/Study Abroad Manager, and other key campus stakeholders. Additionally, the AVC serves as the university’s chief enrollment officer and as such is designated to represent UW-Parkside at the UW System level on the Senior Strategic Enrollment Officers council.
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside serves approximately 4,300 undergraduate and graduate students and offers over 51 undergraduate majors, 87 minors / certificates, and 16 graduate degrees. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services & Admissions Director (AVC) reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services and provides direct oversight and strategic direction to the areas of Admissions, Military & Veterans Success Center, Registrar’s Office, and Scholarships & Financial Aid. The AVC is responsible for developing and implementing the university’s strategic enrollment recruitment plan through coordinated, data-driven marketing, recruitment, and yield strategies, and for integrating all aspects of recruitment, retention, and persistence into a seamless enrollment management philosophy/culture that positions UW-Parkside for long-term growth and future success.
Role of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services & Admissions Director
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services & Admissions Director will have the following responsibilities/job duties:
- Provide leadership and guidance related to unit operations, budget management, technology, and strategic planning for the units of Admissions, Military & Veterans Success Center, Registrar’s Office, and Scholarships & Financial Aid. Provide direct supervision to Admissions Associate Director - Operations / CRM Administrator, Admissions Associate Director - Recruitment, Campus Visit Coordinator, Veterans Services Manager, Director of Scholarships & Financial Aid, and Registrar. Develop, execute, and evaluate a coordinated program of recruitment from initial inquiry to matriculation for all student demographics (undergraduate, graduate, special, international, and adult). Work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop a campus-wide enrollment management philosophy/culture that integrates all aspects of recruitment, retention and persistence to support student success. Responsible for the development, on-going evaluation, and future revisions of the university’s strategic enrollment management plan. Develop, in collaboration with University Marketing, a clear and comprehensive student communication plan from inquiry through graduation. Analyze inquiry and application trends to identify potential opportunities for advancement or efficiency; monitor admissions activities and processes through analysis of key performance indicators. Use data and predictive analytics to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting and operational efficiencies. Develop and implement institutional admissions/enrollment plans and activities for both undergraduate and graduate programs in concert with academic stakeholders. In collaboration with Director of Scholarships & Financial Aid, Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration, and Vice Chancellor for Advancement, monitor aid distributions and explore expansion of aid opportunities. Oversee the development and administration of unit budgets, ensuring expenses are aligned with strategic priorities. Maintain close working relationship and open communication lines with members of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Provost’s Academic Cabinet, Student Affairs & Enrollment Services Leadership Team, Institutional Research Office, and University Marketing.
Expectations and Opportunities for Leadership
- The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services & Admissions Director has the opportunity to help define the role and create a blueprint for how the institution views enrollment management. It is anticipated that the AVC will develop and co-lead an enrollment management council that will focus on the student experience from inquiry through graduation.
- As a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the AVC will be expected to provide regular enrollment updates, share key performance indicators, and provide expert insights into the policies and practices that will enhance enrollment and student success.
- As a member of the Provost’s Academic Cabinet, the AVC will be expected to work collaboratively with the College Deans, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, and Assistant Provost for Student Success in the development and marketing of academic programs. Additionally, the AVC will routinely share feedback from students and staff regarding challenges/barriers that are impeding student success in an effort to make positive systematic changes as needed.
- As a member of the UW System Senior Strategic Enrollment Officers (SSEO) council, the AVC will represent UW-Parkside in system-wide discussions/decisions that impact the recruitment and enrollment of students. The UW System administers a system-wide electronic admissions application platform and sends the data to the campuses on a daily basis. System-wide decisions related to application fees, application periods, and placement/test score requirements are made with input from the SSEOs, Provosts, and Chancellors.
- As a member of the Student Affairs & Enrollment Services Leadership Team, the AVC will work collaboratively with the VC for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services, Dean of Students, Executive Director of Advising & Academic Support, and the Executive Director of Student Development & Engagement to shape the strategic direction of the division with the primary goal of creating a supportive and inclusive environment for student success.

The successful candidate will possess most, if not all, of the following qualities or abilities:
- A hands-on leader with a strong, data-driven approach to enrollment management and passion for student success. Possesses a high level of knowledge and skills related to all areas of enrollment management including admissions operations and recruitment, territory management, financial aid leveraging, yield strategies, marketing communications, data analysis and predictive analytics, student records, course scheduling, and strategic planning. Considerable knowledge of current technology and software platforms for student recruitment and admissions, financial aid, customer relations management systems, and student success. Strong interpersonal and public relations skills required to interact continually with students, families, counselors, department administrators, and faculty. Ability to effectively lead a staff encouraging strong collaboration and teamwork. Ability to work with a diverse student body and the ability to understand and support different student needs including those of first generation and non-traditional students, veterans, and low-income families. Ability to troubleshoot and solve difficult problems, think systemically to create effective processes and procedures that effect the university and analyze situations in order to apply logical solutions in a complex environment. Evidence of management and organizational skills, professional staff supervision, budget management, and ability to work creatively and independently.
- A Master’s degree from an accredited college/university. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in university enrollment management. Demonstrated experience will all aspects of the admissions process, including expertise with admissions recruitment strategies, territory management, and the recruitment funnel/cycle. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in enrollment management including but not limited to development of strategic enrollment plans, data analytics, financial aid awarding strategies, marketing communications, and CRM technologies.
