Position Summary

The School of Theatre, Television, and Film (TTF) is an academic unit within the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. The School differs from other academic units in that it administers both a curriculum that combines quality academic course work and production programs in which students apply classroom concepts while receiving pre-professional training and experience. In the latter capacity, the School often functions like a small business, producing a series of public presentations every year.

Under general supervision of the School Director, the Fiscal Accounts Coordinator is the internal and external resource on fiscal policy and procedural matters. The incumbent provides fiscal support, accounting system expertise, and overall management of budget issues for the academic and production programs in the School. This position is responsible for a budget system that covers many financial resources, including General Fund, Open University Fund, Course Fees, Box Office Revenue, Critical Needs Funding, Instructionally Related Activities funds, Student Success Fees, and SDSU Research and Campanile Foundation accounts, including revenue received through various sources of earned income, philanthropic gifts, and ticket sales.

The Fiscal Accounts Coordinator also works with faculty to assist with the administration of President’s Leadership Funds and University Grant Program awards. Working closely with the Director of the School and the college’s Resource Manager, the Fiscal Accounts Coordinator ensures sound fiscal control of the TTF budgets.

The incumbent will maintain an accurate, effective accounting / purchasing system while keeping the School’s operational budget up-to-date and running smoothly. This position works to ensure that the School Director, unit budget supervisors, faculty, and staff are well-informed at all times regarding the School’s operating budget, facilitating appropriate financial decision making.  The position also maintains the School’s master files with complete, reliable, and accessible financial data that can be consulted by the Fiscal Accounts Coordinator, the Director, and others for long-range forecasts and strategic planning.
