Assistant Professor of Education
Job Description Summary
The Barnard College, Columbia University Programs in Education invite applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor in Education beginning in the fall of 2023. Fields of specialization are open, and preference is for scholars whose research addresses questions of educational justice and equity, including in the following areas: bilingual education;
comparative or international education; critical disability studies; educational foundations; educational policy; human rights and peace education; language and literacy; or racial and ethnic studies.
Applicants must have an earned PhD in Education. Candidates with an EdD may be considered in cases of exceptional research fit. Candidates should have a promising research agenda and record of scholarship, and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience in P-12 education.
Applicants should submit a cover letter that includes statements on research and teaching, a curriculum vitae, a writing sample, and three academic references. Candidates' statements on research and teaching should address their past experiences with, or future plans for, advancing diversity, equity and inclusion through their research, teaching and/or service.
