About Pellissippi State Community College

Pellissippi State Community College is one of 40 institutions in the Tennessee Board of Regents system. Culture and Diversity

Position Summary: The position helps spearhead the College's retention efforts through coordination of planning, implementation, and execution of strategies to improve retention, progression, and graduation rates for all students through focused and strategic interventions. The position will manage a caseload of students across all five Pellissippi State Campus locations, focusing on in-person meetings, mentoring, and coaching to close equity gaps and facilitate success in College. The position assists with planning and supporting new student onboarding through contextualized orientation sessions and welcome event. Additionally, the incumbent will support re-entry pathways for students experiencing academic probation and suspension. The job's overall purpose involves developing meaningful relationships with students through proactive and intentional support.

Essential Functions:

50% Execute existing academic support plan for assigned students: such as first-time first-year, part-time, adult learners, and underrepresented student groups.

· Assess the specific needs of assigned students across all five campuses

· Assist students in identifying their personal support system: faculty/staff/peer mentor, services, resources, and referrals.

· Assist students with core academic and support processes (admissions, financial aid, scholarships, major/degree information, etc.) and make appropriate referrals.

· Conduct topical workshops (Small group, In-class, and Virtual)

· Conduct 1:1 Coaching sessions (In-person and Virtual)

· Monitor, track, evaluate and report student success data

Through proactive and intentional academic and social support, develop meaningful relationships that foster social belonging among students.

20% Plan and implement programming that supports student success: Triage early academic notification through timely referrals and responses. Maintain accurate records of all student interactions in the EAB/Navigate platform. Conduct Navigate appointment campaigns to facilitate student success for targeted student groups. Help steward the department's overall data management efforts through effective utilization of Banner, Argos, 25Live, Navigate, and Pelli-Biz, tools for operational support of the Stay Strong Success Center.

20% Initiate, develop, and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students across divisions and departments to advance the mission of the College and to impact student readiness and retention across the College in alignment with relevant strategic goals. Specifically collaborate with campus deans to coordinate recruitment and retention programming and initiatives for their respective campuses.

Support in the development of a comprehensive educational orientation and transitional programming. Specifically, assist with the administration of new student onboarding through contextualized orientation sessions and welcome events to the extent that the incumbent attends all such programs, whether on campuses or in the community writ large.

5% Coordinate with Marketing Services and Event Services to timely and effectively promote and coordinate events. Help create and revise marketing materials for the Stay Strong Success Center.

5% Perform other duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree

· Minimum of two years of related experience.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience

Scope of Responsibility: The employee must have a working knowledge of student development theory and understand academic policies affecting academic progress, financial aid, and graduation.

Budgetary: This position assists the Director with budgetary management as directed. In addition, the incumbent will make recommendations to the director as necessary for fiscal needs or enhancements for consideration.

Nature of Contacts: Staff from the following offices: Financial Aid, Admissions, Advising, Student Support Services, Disability Services, Foundation, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Accounting, Payroll, Food Services, Marketing and Communications, Campus Deans, Human Resources, Students, etc. In addition, the President of the College and outside venues.

Physical Demands: Needs to move about inside of the office regularly; must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods; constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a printer, copy machine, etc.; the ability to communicate and exchange accurate information and ideas with and to others. Frequent travel to all five-campus locations is required. Participate in outdoor events for extended periods during all seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall).

Hazards: Constant operation of computer and office machinery may present strain. Frequently moves 10 to 20 lbs. of supplies and food to and from different site campuses.

Pay Rate: $41,870 - $51,660.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
