Assistant Athletic Director - Wolverine Club/Signature Events

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Utah Valley University is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic leader with strong attention to detail, a strong collaborative spirit, and a high focus on innovation for the position of Assistant Athletic Director - Wolverine Club & Signature Events for the Wolverine Club Annual Fund. The core functions of this position are to work and interact daily with prospects and donors through the entire gift cycle, including research, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This critical position reports to the Deputy AD and will be a liaison with athletics institutional advancement efforts, and will work directly with and support all areas of our athleic development team. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge· Knowledge of technical writing, philanthropic gift solicitation, revenue generation, marketing and branding practices, and budgeting and fiscal management.· Knowledge of market research and sales forecasting principles and methodologies.· Comprehensive knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, and methodologies.· Knowledge of UVU policies and procedures.· Knowledge of the regulations governing intercollegiate athletics as set forth by the NCAA, the WAC, and the BIG 12.· Knowledge of project planning, managing, and budgeting social media platforms including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.· Knowledge of video and photo production techniques.· Knowledge of graphic design production techniques.· Knowledge of NCAA DI technical writing procedures.
Skills· Skills in development, fundraising, advertising, marketing and promotions, and strategic planning.· Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.· Advanced direct sales skills.· Skills in organizing resources, analyzing and solving problems, establishing priorities, and making evaluative judgements.· Skills in Psychographic profiling; Data mining; Calculation of Reach, CPI, Conversion and response rates; and Calculation of ROI for marketing initiatives.· Skills in developing marketing materials used for promotion, advertising, fund raising, etc.· Skills in judgement and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, Lightroom, InDesign, etc.).· Proficient in Microsoft Suite software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).· Proficient in camera, lighting, sound, and editing techniques.· Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Abilities· Ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.· Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.· Ability to budget, set financial policies, develop contractual agreements, work with the people in public relations settings, build relationships with many diverse constituencies, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.· Ability to develop and implement comprehensive branding goals, strategies, and plans.· Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-term and long-term goals.· Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.· Ability to develop and manage sales and operating budgets.· Ability to compile and analyze statistical data, draw inferences, and prepare strategic and operational reports and recommendations.· Ability to foster a cooperative environment and to work in a professional fashion with peers in other organizational units.· Ability to uphold and abide by all NCAA, WAC, and BIG 12 regulations and UVU Institutional policies and procedures.· Must be comfortable with modest-to-no budget and non-traditional marketing strategies.· Ability to coordinate effectively with various campus and community constituencies.· Ability to communicate and manage relationships across a wide range of stakeholders (donors, VIPs, coaches, administrators, student-athletes, media, alumni, corporate representatives, etc.)· Ability to work with people in public relations settings.· Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in digital and print design, video and photo shooting and editing.
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Rules and regulations.


Physical Requirements:
Working in an office environment requiring continuous talking, hearing, seeing and fine hand manipulation for computer use. Working in the Athletics division requires walking, standing some lifting up to 10 lbs. Regularly along with occasional bending, twisting and kneeling.
