Athletic Academic Support Specialist

About the Opportunity

Responsibilities:

Serve as the advisor for 3-4 athletic teams, meet with first year and additional at risk students on a weekly basis.

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise approximately 10 student proctors each semester for the study hall program. Schedule coverage for evening study hall and work with the Graduate Assistants and Intern to ensure any schedule changes are approved.

Maintain all academic information for student-athlete population by continuous review of academic records and progress. | Oversee First Month, Mid-Semester Progress Reports and Extended Monitoring programs to gain vital information for faculty on student-athletes academic performance each semester. | Obtain schedule, active list, and end of semester grade reports from the data control office. | Process all grades for the student-athlete population for the Athletic Administration and coaching staff.

Qualifications:

Master's degree required; Academic background in Psychology, Sport Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, and/or Athletic Counseling preferred | Knowledge of academic guidance counseling - active listening skills, complex problem solving, deductive and inductive reasoning, etc. | Demonstrated ability to motivate student-athletes to academically achieve | Strong written, oral communication and expression | Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of Banner, DARS, Salesforce, preferred | Strong organizational skills and knowledge of operational procedures at the university level. | Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations | Up to two-years of academic support, counseling and development of programs for student-athletes required. | Occasional evening and weekend hours and travel may be required
