Position Description

The Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute is recruiting a full-time Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT) on the Faculty Scientist track, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This title is eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date will be Summer or Fall 2022.

This position will support the department's commitment to basic and/or translational cancer research that is relevant to children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer. Ample laboratory space and resources for the candidate will be provided by the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, where the investigator will join the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Requires a PhD in a relevant field or MD (or foreign equivalent). An MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.

Applicants must provide evidence of research productivity in basic/translational pediatric oncology research.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
