Job Summary
Directs and manages and coordinates general maintenance and upkeep of all outdoor athletics spaces and venues. Maintain clean, pleasant and safe environment for student-athletes, coaches, administrators and spectators. Prepares university fields for athletic events, ensuring that fields are safe and consistent for collegiate competition standards. Also, oversee landscaping in and around all athletic ran facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Hire, train and supervise full-time turf manager and student workers/interns
  • Manages the budget for all needed grounds material and equipment
  • Develop and execute turf management program, including all fertilization, chemical applications, herbicide/fungicide applications, mowing, edging, and baseball/softball pitching mound and infield maintenance
  • Inspects, identifies, and or repairs irrigation systems on athletic fields
  • Maintain all areas surrounding athletics competition and practice facilities
  • Perform general structure maintenance when needed
  • Perform routine landscape maintenance at all athletic venues
  • Prep all competition venues for events including mowing, edging, lining, and general maintenance
  • Schedules and manages the in-game field crew for outdoor venues
  • Create work orders and work with Facilities Services on any issues within the athletics facilities that cannot be handled in-house
  • Communicate with coaches and administrators any issues, maintenance schedules, or updates
  • Assist with facility projects, serving as point of contact for assigned projects
  • Assist Director of Athletic Facilities with facilities issues, as needed
  • Assist in set-up, take down, operations, oversight, and customer service of outside events hosted by Athletic Department
  • Manages inventory of supplies, equipment, and proper storage of all turf and landscape supplies and machinery
  • Communicate NCAA compliance standards and assist with rules-education
  • Report all known or suspected violations of NCAA or conference regulations to the appropriate Athletic or Institutional administrator
  • Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work
  • Follow all federal, divisional, and University athletics regulations, including rules and regulations established by the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)

Proposed Salary
$49,400 - $60,000

  • Broad understanding of soils and turf maintenance
  • Knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers
