Consultant in Psychiatry/495318

Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) has an opening for a Consultant in Psychiatry to join our diverse team of dedicated, collaborative, and fun professionals. This is a part-time (11 hours/week), 9-month position, and provides the opportunity for a provider to complement other work responsibilities. CAPS is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and provides a full range of multiculturally sensitive psychological services to all university students. The university is in a lively and diverse suburban community accessible to mid-town Manhattan by a twenty-nine-minute train ride.

Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services, the Consultant in Psychiatry's primary role is to provide direct clinical care to the University's undergraduate, graduate and, law students who are clients at CAPS. The Consultant in Psychiatry is responsible for conducting clinical evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and short-term treatment of psychiatric disorders for our students. Responsibilities include the establishment of treatment goals, treatment planning, medication management, and collaboration with the team. This position provides services intended to enhance emotional development and to reduce symptoms of mental illness in university students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducts clinical evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, and short-term treatment of psychiatric disorders in students
• Establishes treatment goals and treatment plans and collaborates routinely with the CAPS team
• Maintains appropriate, confidential records of all client care.
• Provides consultation to CAPS staff and graduate student trainees, Health Services professionals, and other on-campus and off-campus professionals, as appropriate.
• Develops and provides occasional presentations for the professional development of department staff and trainees
• Provides psychiatric care in compliance with the highest ethical and professional standards;
• Provides professional services in keeping with the University's philosophies and Catholic mission.
• Provides all professional services within a multicultural responsive and inclusive framework.
• Pursues continued professional education to stay abreast of current issues and practices in psychiatry and the mental health and developmental issues of college students.

Required Qualifications:
• MD or DO degree. Completion of an accredited residency in psychiatry with 1 - 3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Board certification in psychiatry.
• MSN required and 3 - 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority in New Jersey, board certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or in Psychiatry;
• Controlled Substance License, Federal DEA#.

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with electronic health records desirable.
• Experience providing crisis intervention, and referral services
• Experience in psychiatric treatment of diverse adolescent/young adult population preferred
• Experience with a college student population strongly preferred.

Licenses and Certificates:
• Board certification in psychiatry.
• Licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority in New Jersey, board certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or in Psychiatry;
• Controlled Substance License, Federal DEA#.
