Phlebotomy Technician Lab Support Specialist (Part-Time)

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing classroom skill support within the Phlebotomy Technician Program. Work with Phlebotomy Technician faculty to determine the most appropriate skills presentation and hands-on learning experiences to meet course objectives and expectations in the Phlebotomy profession.

Essential Functions:
1. Provides classroom support and expertise to the Phlebotomy Technician faculty in the management of hands-on classroom learning techniques and scenarios.2. Collaborates with Phlebotomy Technician faculty in the planning, preparation, and implementation of phlebotomy skills and exercises.3. In collaboration with the Phlebotomy Technician faculty, ensures lab safety, cleanliness, and organization.4. Prepares required phlebotomy skill materials and equipment to support the learning environment.5. Keeps inventory of phlebotomy supplies.6. Supports safe clinical lab practices according to OSHA guidelines.


Other Duties:
1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences, the Phlebotomy Technician Lab Support Specialist is responsible for assisting faculty and providing professional expertise and support for the learning activities in the Phlebotomy Technician program. Supports specific course/program curricula requirements as mandated by the educational mission and goals of the Health Sciences Department and the College.

Job Specifications:
Associate’s degree in a health related field preferred, phlebotomy technician or related curriculum. Two years of experience in a lab setting or phlebotomy technician required. Proficiency in medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology preferred. Good organizational skills required. Strong communication skills required.
