Academic Coordinator

About the Opportunity

Summary and Responsibilities:

The Academic Coordinator plays a vital role in developing and implementing strategies related to a variety of academic special projects for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE). The Academic Coordinator will address ongoing faculty, student, and staff needs related to teaching, research, and service. They will: facilitate all activities of undergraduate studies committees and assist with faculty search committees; organize course registration and maintain the scheduling of the ECE courses in the registration system and coordinate it with the university registrar; support the department's data infrastructure and maintain the records of the department degrees requirements and courses records in the university catalog; coordinate with college advising and assist with the college's programmatic initiatives; assist student organizations with events and activities; provide guidance to faculty and students on all departmental, college, and university policies and procedures related to undergraduate programs.

The Academic Coordinator will also provide supplemental support for college and university marketing and communications initiatives for undergraduate recruitment events. This may include coordinating and carrying out work related to ECE events designed to increase the department's visibility across stakeholder groups. The Academic Coordinator will work with the front office in completing general administrative tasks related to front office activities. Responsibilities include being first point of contact for visitors, students, faculty and staff; data entry; report preparation; and scheduling. This position will report to the Director of Administration and Finance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Preferred minimum of two years' experience with academic and administrative projects. Experience with event coordination a plus
  • Strong project management/organizational skills with attention to fine detail, commitment to quality
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple demands from demanding constituencies
  • Must be able to consistently produce high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Must demonstrate a professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university
  • Must have a positive can-do attitude, flexibility, initiative, and ability to function effectively as member of a team in a dynamic and exciting work environment
  • Responsive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement, and high integrity
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Computer Engineering and academia a plus
