Gettysburg College seeks a dynamic, innovative candidate to serve in this 12-month, full-time position as the Director, External Relations in the Center for Career Engagement. This position reports to the Executive Director.

The Director will be joining the college at an exciting time with our newly adopted strategic plan, “Living Our Promise,” emphasizing the integration of both academic and co-curricular experiences with a strong emphasis on the career development of every student. The primary role of the Director, External Relations is to strategize, develop, and maintain relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of the College to increase career engagement opportunities for students and alumni.
The Director, External Relations will:
- Act as a liaison between the Center for Career Engagement and College Advancement and seek to build upon existing relationships and maximize opportunities for new synergies, collaborations, and efficiencies Conduct outreach to alumni, parents, and friends of the College via regular regional travel and occasional long-distance travel as well as frequent virtual meetings Meet and communicate regularly with various constituents in the Gettysburg Network, collaborate on career related programming involving Gettysburg alumni, and serve as a conduit for career volunteer recruitment and engagement Identify potential experiential and career programming partners Administer the connectGettysburg online community and continue to source new users from the Gettysburg Network Provide strategic direction and feedback on employer engagement efforts.
Applicants must be able to connect with a broad array of employers, alumni, parents, administrators, and faculty partners. In addition, successful candidates will have knowledge of sourcing, recruiting, counseling, mentoring, advising, equity, and access. Successful candidates will be skilled at articulating the value of a liberal arts experience as it relates to employability.
Collaboration and teamwork are expected of the College Life staff. A successful candidate for the position will be expected to work cross-departmentally with colleagues in support of the overall student experience and should expect to contribute to work groups, committees, and projects outside of the core responsibilities of this position. Qualifications - Successful candidates will have:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or related field is required. A Master’s Degree in Business, Higher Education, or related field is a plus. Five years of experience in career development, employer relations, alumni affairs, recruiting, development, human resources, or related field are required, and a clear understanding of liberal arts education is preferred. Experience in sourcing volunteers, employers, and opportunities and managing a CRM are a plus. A demonstrated commitment to providing leadership in building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community is required.
The Director, External Relations is a full-time, 12-month administrative position. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience and is complemented by an available benefits package including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) retirement contribution, dependent tuition benefits, and parent leave.
