The Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement (VCIA) is a highly visible senior leadership role, focusing on enhancing BRCC’s positive involvement in the service area, resulting in expanded opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to increase external visibility, relationships, and activities.   The VCIA provides strategic direction, vision, and management of the College’s overall institutional advancement efforts, including annual and major gift fundraising and capital campaigns, community and public relations, alumni relations, marketing, planning, and continuous improvement efforts.  The VCIA position requires a strong and visionary leader that will direct institutional advancement with integrity, accountability, and service.  Serving as a member of the College's Executive Team, the VCIA will collaborate with other Executive Team members to plan and execute strategic initiatives to build social and financial capital and to identify short and long-term priorities for fund development.

As an office, Institutional Advancement serves the College by promoting understanding of its people, programs, policies, and needs, resulting in securing adequate public and private support essential to the fulfillment of its mission.  Core leadership responsibilities include support of initiatives developed in collaboration with the Louisiana Community & Technical College System (LCTCS) or at the college level, strengthening the College’s role with various private and public entities, and building regional and national relationships with associations, other institutions, and systems. 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Relations, Educational Administration, Business Administration, or other related field.

Certifications/Licenses Required:  

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)

Required Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of progressive leadership and fundraising responsibilities, preferably in higher education.  

Allowable substitutions:

  • Master’s in an unrelated field accepted with an additional two (2) years of the required work experience.
  • Bachelor’s in one of the stated fields accepted with an additional four (4) years of the required work experience.
  • PhD in one of the stated fields will substitute for two (2) years of the required work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of direct fundraising methodologies/techniques and ability/skill to successfully implement same.
  • Ability to commitment to student-centered leadership.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and enhance professional relationships.
  • Ability to use sound professional judgment, integrity, and resourcefulness.
  • Knowledge of a variety of giving structures (planned giving, annual giving, clubs/societies giving).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to persuasively articulate the vision, mission and goals of Baton Rouge Community College; to interact effectively with diverse constituents; to represent the College with integrity.
  • Computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to commit to excellence in all areas

  • Ability to display leadership in higher education by taking on progressive responsibility.
  • Maturity, perspective, and credibility necessary to influence university administrators and as well as key alumni and stakeholders.
  • Strong supervisory, management and mentoring skills with experience in building and developing teams of motivated staff and volunteers.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD in Public Administration, Public Relations, Educational Administration, Business Administration, or other related field.

Preferred Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership and fundraising responsibilities, preferably in higher education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience working with a board of directors and volunteers   
  • Project management skills
