Position Overview

Responsible for overseeing DSA Marketing Office, Alumni Memorial Union Student Employment Program and University Information Center serving as direct supervisor of the AMU student employee coordinator, student information specialists, AMU graduate assistant, and DSA Marketing design assistants. Oversee Commuters at Marquette initiatives including advising the Commuter Student Association and working with campus partners to enhance the commuter experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Advise and create curriculum for the AMU student employment program directly working with the AMU student employee coordinator and AMU student managers on annual events, weekly leadership & managerial training meetings, semesterly training sessions and staff correspondence
  2. Supervise the AMU student employee coordinator, the student representative who oversees the training and development of the student managers for every Alumni Memorial Union department, working on weekly meeting topics as well as semesterly student manager training sessions and semesterly All Staff events, all to enhance the transformational learning opportunities available through employment in the union
  3. Responsible for identifying target audiences for DSA driven events and initiatives along with overseeing design work and project flow for all marketing requests made by the departments within the division, including, but not limited to programming events, training programs and awareness campaigns.
  4. Advise and support the AMU graduate assistantship position in overseeing the DSA Marketing office including all graphic design projects and promotional materials requested by DSA offices and services: Late Night Programming, Annex Programming, AMU Student Employment, AMU Services, Engagement & Inclusion area initiatives, Student Organization events/activities, Greek Life, and other divisional needs
  5. Manage DSA publication request online process (http://www.marquette.edu/dsa/communications/publication-request.shtml)
  6. Support Commuters at Marquette by advising the Commuter Student Association, planning programming and involvement opportunities, managing the Commuters at Marquette email list serv, creating a monthly Commuters at Marquette newsletter, and maintaining the needs of the Commuter Student Lounge.
  7. Supervisory responsibilities of the Coordinator of Administrative Services.
  8. Oversee the University Information Center including training and guidance of staff and student managers, monitoring the university’s 1-800#, assist with vending refunds, and serve as a liaison to the Office of Marketing & Communication for official university communication.
  9. Manage the Alumni Memorial Union, Commuter Students and Union Sports Annex websites
  10. Manage social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for the Alumni Memorial Union and Union Sports Annex and serve as social media liaison to other DSA departments
  11. Oversee the AMU’s all student employee email list serv and provide ongoing student employment communication through it
  12. Advisor to the MUSG (Marquette University Student Government) Communications Vice President and Communications team throughout academic year
  13. Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings including bi-weekly update meetings with Executive Director of AMU & Auxiliary Services, bi-weekly AMU Leadership Team meetings, bi-weekly AMU staff meetings, training sessions and staff development sessions
  14. Serve as representative for the Alumni Memorial Union on the DSA Assessment Team, DSA Diversity Committee, and DSA Student Leadership Team
  15. Plan annual All Staff, a training day where all AMU staff members and student employees come together to engage and participate in a series of interactive activities before breaking out for department specific training
  16. Responsible for the planning and execution of the AMU Student Employee of the Year program which includes the announcement of individual department recipients and the AMU Student Manager of the Year
  17. Coordinate semester graduation ceremonies for AMU student employees
  18. Oversee AMU student employment recognition programs such as the High Five program, student employee of the month, student employee of the year and student manager of the year acknowledgements
  19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree and work toward a graduate degree
  • Minimum 2 years work experience of student activities programming experience in a culturally diverse environment, including planning and presentation of social, educational, cultural and recreational activities
  • Experience with the planning, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs
  • Use of social media as a marketing and communication tool experience valuable
  • Curriculum planning for AMU student employment program yearlong training
  • Advisory experience to support student organizations
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations
  • High moral character, and good attendance record
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively in event planning process with exceptional communication to all parties involved
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with developing and implementing an ongoing leadership training program
  • Results-oriented marketing strategist
  • Strong customer service and professional presence
  • Availability to work select nights and weekends as called for by programs scheduled to enhance the Marquette student out of classroom experience

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in student personnel administration, communication, advertising, marketing, or business preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, Forms), Qualtrics, and OU Campus (website) preferred
