The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Senior AV Support Specialist to join the Information Technology department in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Senior AV Support Special acts as a subject matter expert for audio-visual technology and services, providing design, implementation, and support of existing audio-visual technology solutions for classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. The Senior AV Support Specialist also assists the AV Manager with planning for new building projects and renovations and provides consulting, problem determination, and audio-visual technology needs analysis while delivering the highest level of service quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Provide support for existing AV technology solutions in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces including problem determination, repair, and replacement. Monitors and responds to AV support tickets, including priority classroom or conference room tickets. Plans, schedules, and executes work requests with minimal supervision. Create, review and update knowledgebase articles for customers and IT colleagues.
  • Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, training, and support of audio-visual equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. This includes, but is not limited to, projection and LED displays, audio/video control systems, sound systems, lighting systems, cameras, and all associated programming, cabling, and wiring. Work with customers to understand their technology needs and provide consulting and AV technology solutions and recommendations.
  • Maintain open communication with campus constituents to understand new technology needs and challenges. Keeps abreast of technology trends, especially those trends relating to the use of audio-visual technology in an educational environment. Train and supervise student AV technicians. Provides support for AV Manager and events as needed.
  • Attends meetings and briefings related to AV support. Participate in committees and task forces as assigned. Collaborate with University and other Campus Information Technology departments in the development of strategic and tactical plans.

Qualifications

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:
  • Excellent audio-visual skills with experience designing, installing, and integrating audio visual equipment.
  • Comprehensive A/V background, including knowledge on system design, theory, and best practices.
  • Experience with audio visual control systems such as Crestron, Extron or AMX including installation, configuration, and programming. Crestron experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience creating line drawings using Visio or CAD software.
  • Industry certifications such as Crestron and InfoComm CTS preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve audio-visual issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and mentor student technicians.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with various levels of personnel to understand the problem and complete written documentation that is geared appropriately to the audience.
  • Maintains a professional, positive image.
  • Ability to apply project management processes and tools to IT Projects and adjust based on project complexity and scope.
  • Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and adjust priorities based on new work assigned.
  • Work independently and with little direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates initiative and professional judgment when completing work.
  • Assists in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future AV equipment and university technology needs.
  • Clean driving record due to driving requirements.
