Job Summary

The primary objective of the Student Accounts Specialist is to process all past due student accounts to reduce the overall accounts receivable while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is the main point of contact with contracted billing and collection agencies and will liaise those relationships. In addition, the Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of sponsor and related billing.

Salary Grade

Essential Functions
  • Performs routine outreach to enrolled students with unpaid accounts. Develops new communication strategies for maximum effectiveness
  • Assists with the development of new communication strategies related to student accounts for maximum effectiveness
  • Assists Dept Supervisor in developing and documenting metrics to reduce students’ receivables
  • Responsible for the assignment of delinquent accounts to contracted billing and collection agencies. Verify payments, reports and invoices submitted by these agencies.
  • Apply appropriate student account holds in accordance with university policies
  • Remain up to date on all applicable regulations and policies regarding billing and collections. Attend appropriate training when necessary
  • Oversee the processing of all sponsor billing in accordance with each entities’ specifications. Verify payments received and trouble shoot short pays
  • Serve as primary back-up for department Cashier and Billing Manager
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work independently with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Six months to one year experience in a Student Accounts or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related subject
  • Experience in Colleague
  • Familiarity with Entrinsik Informer
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
