Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Stewardship oversees and implements comprehensive donor relations programs and services that support the strategy and objectives of University Advancement.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Develops a comprehensive plan for stewardship and recognition for donors of major gifts, strategic gifts, and lead gifts.
  • Oversees all stewardship activities and initiatives.
  • Oversees donor recognition for building and space dedications.
  • Directs the execution and stewardship of all Foundation scholarships.
  • Directs the development and preparation of narrative and financial reports.
  • Develops a communication strategy and oversees the preparation of stewardship materials, on-line communications, and Foundation publications.
  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of high-profile stewardship events, such as the President's Annual Scholarship luncheon.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.
  • Six years of professional full-time experience with donor relations, project management, or other relevant experience.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field.
  • Work experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and best practices of philanthropy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan and implement large-scale events.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and build strong relationships with a diverse group of donors.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
  • Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance and motivation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Ability to travel locally and throughout the state.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.
Salary: Base salary is $54,300 to negotiable
