Job Summary:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of general agricultural operations in our field and greenhouse spaces at the UW-Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station.

Responsibilities:

Supports the operational activities of a farm, field operation, or agricultural facility, maintains plant production, and maintenance to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • 45% Plants, cultivates, and harvests vegetables, fruits, nuts, horticultural specialties, and field crops
  • 45% Cleans, grades, sorts, packs, and loads harvested products and seed
  • 5% Maintains and evaluates hardscapes
  • 5% May operate farm equipment

Education:

Preferred
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

1. Preferable knowledge of basic greenhouse and farm operations
2. Ability to lift 50 pounds
3. Carry out verbal and written instructions completely and in a detailed and timely manner.
4. Observe general work place safety practices and follow proper safety procedures.
5. Observe university, college, department, and station policies and work rules.
6. Perform work in adverse work conditions when necessary.
7. Ability to communicate and work well with others.
8. Ability to adhere to sanitation and UW safety policies at the farm.
9. The ability to learn and utilize the proper method of cleaning with disinfecting agents.
10. Maintain positive attitude and working relationship with supervisors, researchers, and other staff.

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Schedule:

Normal working hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, but some overtime will be necessary to expedite time sensitive operations.

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
