Recycling Foreperson

Position Summary:
The Recycling Foreperson under the direction of the Director of Custodial Services supervises University recycling operations. The work consists of emptying interior recycling bins, monitoring contamination of bins, monitoring and replacing recycling signage, and communicating and educating students and staff of acceptable recycling practices and standards. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and leading the daily activities of the recycling staff. This position will also contribute to the team effort by assisting in emergencies such as floods and leaks, assist Facilities Shops personnel when short-handed, snow removal, unlocking buildings and classrooms, custodial event support and cleaning, and other work as required to assist the University.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University closure.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-year supervisory experience and handling, sorting, storing, or receiving materials.
- 1-year experience with hiring, and evaluating staff.
- Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, and internet searches.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to: bend, stoop, lift, and move items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Stand and walk continuously throughout the shift. Some positions may require climbing and working from ladders.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
- Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies and event support during off-hours.
