    Department Summary
    The Disability Early Intervention Secondary Transition & Youth (DESTNY) grant management unit houses five established, preexisting research and outreach entities within the University of Oregon, College of Education: The Secondary Special Education & Transition (SSET) research unit, the Center for Human Development (CHD), which houses the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), research and outreach in Early Intervention (EI), Oregon Career Information System (OR-CIS), and Oregon Research Schools Network (ORSN). Each of these units has tremendous capacity and impact through cutting edge scholarship, leading personnel preparation programs, state-of-the-art technical assistance and outreach, the demonstrated capacity to engage in and disseminate effective tools and technologies, and the necessary supports for managing the fiscal and reporting requirements of federally funded projects. DESTNY is devoted to generating new knowledge, assessment, prevention, and intervention. The combined expertise, access to a wealth of human, technological, and material resources, and our unyielding commitment to addressing the most challenging social problems provide us with a unique opportunity to improve the lives and outcomes of children and youth with disabilities and their families. Currently, there are 24 research and training grants and over 50 staff in the DESTNY Programs.
    Position Summary
    The DESTNY Grant Management Unit at the University of Oregon is seeking qualified applicants for its open research pool. Positions are limited duration, funding contingent appointments that are part-time or short-term contracts not to exceed one year, with the possibility of renewal up to a total of three years. Renewals will be dependent upon program needs, funding, and performance. Salary will be dependent upon education, experience, and available funding.

    Potential areas of research include program development; statistical analyses related to all phases of preparation of scientific papers, presentations, and grant applications; staff professional development at the project level; and off-site research activities with a variety of populations including persons with identified developmental disabilities or non-English speaking populations. In addition to the creation of a population of databases required for research and evaluation projects.

    Research Associates will conduct independent research and participate in research teams.

    Research Assistants will conduct research under the direction of Research Associates and participate in research teams.

    Postdoctoral Research Scholars will conduct research under the direction of a faculty member to acquire research training. In addition, to further career development, the postdoctoral research scholar and PI will create and follow mentoring and individual development plans.

    Some positions may require bilingual written and oral fluency.

    Some positions may include overnight travel and/or extensive previous experience in a similar job role.
    Minimum Requirements
    Research Assistant Rank:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related area.

    Research Associate Rank:
  • Terminal degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Administration, or related area.

    Postdoctoral Scholar:
  • Doctorate degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Administration, or related area.
    Professional Competencies
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds and an interest in creating and maintaining a diverse learning and working environment.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and leadership capacity.
  • Strong organizational skills.
