Job Summary:

Marist College invites applications for the position of Part-Time Instructor of Modern Languages. This position is responsible for teaching 1- 3 language courses at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level in the target language.

Minimum Qualifications:

A M.A. degree in the target language or related field, experience teaching the language at the secondary or college level, native or near native fluency.

Essential Functions:

The Part-Time Instructor of Modern Language is responsible for teaching 1- 3 language courses at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level in one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian and American Sign Language.

Preferred Qualifications:

A PhD. in linguistics, literature, or related field in the target language plus experience teaching at college level, native fluency is preferred.

About the Department and School:

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) is housed within the School of Liberal Arts along with departments in English, History, Philosophy, and Political Science. The department offers majors and minors in Spanish, French, and Italian as well as courses in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, German, Russian and Latin at various levels. Students in our Spanish, French, and Italian programs are usually double majors in Teacher Education, Business, Fashion, History, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, and Biomedical Sciences among others. The department works very closely with Marist Abroad to support Marist programs at Florence and Madrid.
