Assistant Director of Recruiting, Professional MBA Program



This role is a Monday through Friday on campus (in person) position.

Annual Salary Range: $55,000 to $58,000

SUMMARY:

The Jones Graduate School of Business is a top 25 MBA school with full-time, professionals evening and weekend, executive and on-line programs. The Professional MBA (PMBA) prospects are working professionals who will be balancing the work and school demands throughout the program.

The Assistant Director of Recruiting will lead the school’s recruiting efforts to bring in and yield the best incoming class of students for the PMBA programs. The Assistant Director of Recruiting, along with the Executive Director and the Manager of Recruiting/Working Professionals, implements the strategic direction and objectives of the recruiting functions within the admissions department, which in turn supports the school’s growth while simultaneously maintaining its culture and quality standards.

The Assistant Director is responsible for working with the admissions directors to complete the full cycle admissions process in support of the PMBA programs. S/he explores and implements practices and coordinates with the members of the Recruiting and Admissions team that allow the school to admit and yield the top most talent to the Rice MBA family.

The Assistant Director also focuses on the integration of diversity and inclusion efforts as it relates specifically to recruiting top diversity candidates for the MBA program. The Assistant Director should have a good awareness of a professional role across industries and be able to consult with them discussing education and career aspirations. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven and highly-motivated individual contributor, yet able to work with a team of equally dedicated staff to bring in the best students for the Professional MBA program at the Jones Graduate School.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conducts market research of assigned territories
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective students
  • Responds to inquiries timely providing accurate information
  • Conducts informational sessions for internal / external candidates on / off campus
  • Works with other members of the admissions staff on projects related to communications, on-campus recruitment programs, internal training, general or targeted recruitment activities, or other projects as needed
  • Reads, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding applications utilizing admissions rating system
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state laws regarding college admission, FERPA, and affirmative action
  • Manages assigned geographic territory(ies)
  • Develops and strengthens relationships with university personnel, professional organizations, students, and alumni
  • Coordinates onsite logistics for admission events
  • Performs all other duties assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years related professional work experience in higher education admission, recruitment or administration, or experience in human resources, corporate recruiting, sales, or marketing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of admission processes and programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills such as professionalism, collaborative, influencer and demonstrates cheerful and positive behaviors
  • Good presentation skills
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  • May assist in the administration of a specific project and / or program
  • Works with the JGS marketing/communications office to develop print materials to market the various components of the PMBA program, including the primary admissions brochure and web information, in a timely manner
  • Coordinates international and domestic JGS alumni meetings to enlist their support and recruiting efforts
  • Plans, manages, and implements marketing projects such as receptions, open houses and contact campaigns to increase the applicant pool of the Rice MBA program
  • Attends domestic events and MBA forums to meet with and interview prospective candidates from outside of the Houston area
  • Implements the procedures to handle the recruiting process to ensure that all strategic targets and metrics are in line for each incoming class
  • Works with the director of diversity & inclusion to ensure that our diversity efforts are assessed and in line to help the Jones School achieve national stature and be competitive with top 10 MBA schools in the country
