The College of Science and Society invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate Science credit-bearing courses. Adjunct faculty members report to the Natural Science Course Coordinator, who serves under the direction of the Dean of the school. Adjunct faculty members provide students with high-quality learning experiences on a semester-by-semester basis. Adjunct faculty members are expected to perform all instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the University of Bridgeport.

Essential Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Abiding by and upholding UB’s mission, policies, and core values.
  • Teaching undergraduate and students in assigned course(s), see below for course details and meeting times
  • Implementing assigned courses as designed and specified in approved syllabi.
  • Assigning grades based on specified criteria as delineated in course syllabus and posting the grades to Canvas and the University’s data systems.
  • Being available to students for individual consultation.
  • Communicating in a timely manner with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Meeting all course and semester timelines by the specified due dates.
  • Staying current within the field of study.
  • Start Date: 6 September 2022
Sci-107 Environmental Conservation: lecture and laboratory: general education course for non-science majors that covers a broad range of topics like climate change, biodiversity, pollution, nutrient cycles, et cetera. Meets Tuesday and Thursday lectures from 1:30 to 2:20, labs 2:30 to 4:20.

Other Fall ’22 courses may potentially need coverage as well.

Work Location: Primarily on UB Campus (Charles Dana Hall). Labs occasionally meet outdoors. Bottom of Form

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have:
  • Minimum master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related discipline.
  • Professional work experience in lab and/or field.
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching in person and online settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use learning management software (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
  • Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching and a commitment to high academic and professional standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to the academic, emotional, and social development of all students.
