Department Summary
The Disability Early Intervention Secondary Transition & Youth (DESTNY) grant management unit (GMU) provides fiscal and grant/contract support to five well-established, preexisting research and outreach programs within the University of Oregon, College of Education: The Secondary Special Education & Transition (SSET) research unit, the Center for Human Development (CHD) and the Oregon Research Schools Network (ORSN), which houses the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), research and outreach in Early Intervention (EI), and Oregon Career Information System (OR CIS). Each of these organizations has tremendous capacity and impact through cutting edge scholarship, leading personnel preparation programs, state-of-the-art technical assistance and outreach, the demonstrated capacity to engage in and disseminate effective tools and technologies, and the necessary support for managing the fiscal and reporting requirements of federally funded projects. Generating new knowledge devoted to assessment, prevention, and intervention is what we do. Position Summary
The Grants Contracts Technician functions as an assistant for the management of grant-related administrative needs for the Center on Human Development, and day-to-day operations related to sponsored projects for research and outreach programs of DESTNY GMU.

The person in this position is responsible for maintaining policies, processes, and procedures that support timely and accurate pre-and post-award financial management, reporting, and policy compliance. The Grants & Contracts Technician will work directly with Center on Human Development (CHD) programs and principal investigators to provide administrative support, coordinate outreach activities, and support the ongoing grant and contract activities taking place within CHD and DESTNY units as needed. This position reports directly to the Business Manager.

Note: this position is based in Eugene, but occasional remote working arrangements may be considered.
Minimum Requirements
  • 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of accounting courses AND 2 years of experience which included preparing financial reports; making annual or biennial closing entries; interpreting financial data and advising administrators; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in Accounting; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, project management, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and potentially sensitive information effectively, continuously, and discretely.
  • Proficiency with software and technology, including accounting and HR systems, grant submission systems, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently manage large amounts of data utilizing resources to complete annual reporting requirements for grants.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education, non-profit agencies, or public sector agencies.
  • Experience with University of Oregon systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with the Banner or similar financial system, Concur for Travel and Procurement, and PageUp or other talent management software.
  • Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, and regulations in a college or university setting.
  • Three years of experience organizing large amounts of information and preparing and presenting results to management and clients.
  • Experience in travel arrangements both local and domestic for faculty and staff.
  • Experience in event coordination (coordinating with speakers, reserving ADA meeting rooms, hotel contracting).
  • Experience working with any of the following funding agencies: National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Institute of Educational Sciences, and Office of Special Education Programs.
  • Knowledge and or experience with the provision of services under the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
