What will you do as a Cook 2?
You'll get to cook amazing, creative food, providing mentorship and leadership to motivated team members. You'll direct the meal preparation and production through display and batch cooking. If you love cooking, bring that passion to UO!

You will do important record keeping to make sure that supplies are ordered and available and employees are appropriately scheduled to cover shifts.

You will get to train employees and work with other food service staff to create a trendsetting dining experience for our Ducks in a diverse, respectful and inclusive working environment.

Who are you? (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Two years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial firm serving complete meals (like restaurants, grocery stores, catering, cafeteria, etc.)
    OR
  • An Associate's degree or certification in Food Service Management, Foods and Hospitality Service, or a directly-related field.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain a professional demeanor, and prioritize duties during rush periods.
  • Ability to interact with external and internal customers in a professional, supportive, and team-oriented manner.

    It's even better if you have... (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience directing staff.
  • Experience preparing food in a high volume kitchen.
  • Exhibition cooking experience.
  • Experience working within a HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) plan.

    Other information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month position. Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules may change based upon the operational needs of the unit.

    This position requires the employee to make every reasonable effort to arrive at campus at their regularly scheduled times during inclement weather and/or university closures unless otherwise notified by their supervisor or manager. This includes times when the university may be closed. Essential personnel must provide reliable and current contact information at all times.

    Work conditions and physical demands are typical of those found in the food service industry. These conditions may include slippery floors, extreme temperatures, heavy lifting and standing for long periods.

    Special Requirements
  • You'll need a Lane County Food Handler's card within 2 weeks of employment. If you don't have it already, we'll help you get it!
