Job Summary

This position reports to the Head of Library Operations. This position will assist across all Library Operations Department functions. There is a lot of flexibility on additional job duties and we will work with the employee to give them the diversity of experience needed to move up in the library field, if so desired. This job requires that the employee work primarily on-site.

HOURS: typically Sunday 12pm-6; Monday through Thursday 11am – 8pm; however, hours may change depending on need, staffing, and academic term. Significant notice of an hours change will typically be given.

Essential Functions

Manage routine Library Assistance Desk functions (with other Supervisor, Library Operations) under direction of the Head, Library Operations, including setting policies, managing student employees (including hiring, firing, training, scheduling, and oversight)

Perform routine collection maintenance functions such as deaccessioning materials, shelf maintenance, materials processing, copy cataloging and preparing materials for original cataloging, filing, and other tasks as assigned by the Head, Library Operations

Serve as backup for interlibrary loan

Backup for other departmental responsibilities/individual projects

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree, no experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college equivalent or equivalent library work experience (Applicants enrolled in Library Science program are encouraged to apply);

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and customer service;

• Strong and effective communications skills;

• Able to work effectively within a diverse team environment in a dynamic work setting

• Customer service oriented

• This job requires shelving and processing books and other materials.
