Position Purpose:
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager (DEI) Manager is a key position that takes a role in helping Century College achieve its goal to eliminate all equity gaps in student success. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (AVP-DEI). The duties and responsibilities for this position are designed to support two departments within the College: Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and the Center for Professional Development and Collaboration (CPDC).
The Manager will oversee projects and initiatives on behalf of Office of Diversity and Inclusion in coordination with other stakeholders on campus. Responsibilities of this position include designing and offering professional development programming, support, and resources within ODI and CPDC.
The Manager will collaboratively work with both individuals and groups to maintain a visible profile both on campus and with external constituencies to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts.
- Conduct investigations by serving as one of the designated 1B1 officer, coordinating inquiries, processes, and investigations for employee complaints and investigations.
- Coordinate and facilitate equity and inclusion focused dialogues, professional development, and events with employees and students.
- Participate in other activities related to the community and college administration.
Minimum Qualifications: (expected to have to enter job)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three years of experience directing diversity programming and conducting investigations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing education, e.g., data practices, equal employment-educational opportunity and affirmative action practices and principles.
- Knowledge of civil rights and Title XI investigations practices.
- Experience in administrative management, i.e., budget, strategic planning, monitoring and process development.
- Experience in major event development, implementation, and management.
- Cultural competency and awareness thorough enough to train employees and students and build relationships within communities of color.
- Excellent communication skills, i.e., interpersonal, listening, verbal, written.
- Developing a variety of written correspondence to meet diverse communication needs.
- Computer software skills, such as Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
- Understanding of the two-year college philosophy.
- Experience in senior-level planning, decision making, and problem solving in a wide variety of situations.
- Understanding of the policies, procedures, practices, and protocols related to higher education.
Additional Requirements:
Paid by Century and required within six months on the job
- Qualified administrator, or ability to become a qualified administrator within six (6) months, of the Intercultural Development Inventory.
