Summary

The Graduate Program in Professional Writing at Washington & Jefferson College invites applications for Adjunct Instructor of Professional Writing. Duties and Responsibilities

Teach one course per semester courses meet one night a week for approximately two hours, beginning in Spring 2023. Please note that some courses may include advanced undergraduate students.

Instruction Responsibilities
  • Create syllabus, schedule and assignments for each course.
  • Choose texts and materials.
  • Use active teaching modalities.
  • Administer and grade assignments.
  • Communicate with students and keep them updated on their course progress.
Minimum Qualifications
  • An MA or Ph.D. in English, Composition, Rhetoric, or related field.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Commitment to active learning and student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a professional writing capacity.
  • Experience with course management systems.
