Chief Information Officer

Durham University is a globally outstanding centre of teaching and research excellence, a collegiate community of exceptional and committed people, in a unique and historic setting. We are one of the world's top universities and provide a distinctive environment for our 19,000 students and 4,300 staff. Our staff, students, colleges, departments and estate all combine to make this a wonderful place to study, work and to live.

In the decade that we will celebrate our 200th anniversary, we acknowledge our history but have a clear perspective on our digital future. As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence, we have exciting plans to improve the size, shape and mission of the University. In supporting the University's digitalised environment and ambitions with a forward thinking and cohesive approach, the technology estate provided by our Computer and Information Services Department, led by our CIO, is a key enabler to ensure we achieve our objectives.

With a £53m commitment to IT, the appointment of our new CIO comes at an exciting and pivotal time for IT provision in the University. The University is keen to explore applications from across sectors, with the successful candidate being able to demonstrate that they can build credibility and trust across the University and beyond through a collaborative approach, by bringing technical and commercial expertise, as well as a future-orientated perspective on technology, systems and infrastructure.

Irrespective of sector background, this high-level leadership role requires a passion to deliver the University's mission and a sophisticated communication style, which appreciates the needs of academic freedom in a College structure, balanced with recognising the demands of the modern world of cyber and data security.

Durham University are working in partnership with Anderson Quigley to recruit to this post. Applications submitted via this portal will not be considered.
