JOB DESCRIPTION

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is seeking applicants for an Admissions Counselor/Admissions Recruitment position for their graduate and professional programs. This is a full-time, exempt position.

As a representative of the University of Indianapolis, the admissions counselor supports access to higher education by providing outreach and effective enrollment assistance to a diverse population of prospective students. Working closely with their supervisor, a counselor develops a strategic recruitment plan for identifying prospective students interested in CHS graduate and professional programs and personally engages those students through a multimodal approach that includes internal and external recruitment events, emails, phone calls, in-person appointments/tours, and face-to-face or group presentations. The CHS admissions counselor also works closely with program leadership to meet admission’s targets. This includes maintaining accurate reporting, keeping application portals current with appropriate content and materials, planning admissions events (i.e. open houses, interview experiences), and following up with incoming students throughout the application process to ensure complete applications. For programs with professional accreditation guidelines, admissions counselors will provide necessary data for accreditation reports and work in collaboration with program leadership to assure admissions processes are in compliance.

The search committee has a particular interest in individuals with experience engaging with diverse communities of students.





RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver exceptional first-class customer service while working in a competitive and fast-paced environment
  • Meet with students and families during campus/virtual visits to explain the application process, scholarship opportunities, and personal interest connections and answer all questions
  • Set goals for assigned programs in regards to inquiries, applications, campus visitors, accepted students, and enrolled students
  • Participate in recruiting events during the year including Preview Days, Open Houses, Scholarship Competition Days, Interview Days, Info Sessions, and other campus wide recruitment events as assigned
  • Travel and represent the University independently at events, fairs, and conferences both on and off campus to prospective students, families, influencers, and community partners
  • Speak publicly on behalf of the University to individuals, groups, faculty/staff, or community partners on and off campus potentially incorporating individual presentations, marketing collateral, and/or university/programmatic talking points
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students parents, faculty, co-workers, and program leadership
  • Build relationships with college and independent guidance counselors, along with employers and industry professionals in assigned territory; invite them to visit campus or attend other campus events as appropriate
  • Interpret enrollment reports related to assigned programs and develop recruitment strategies that support the programs efforts to reach enrollment goals
  • Consistent, accurate, and adaptive usage of the CRM to develop predictive modeling, evaluate applications, ensure data integrity, process admission, communicate, track interactions and update statuses.ling to make informed decisions about students applications and outreach

  • Through engagement and relationship building, accurately assess the needs and interests of a diverse population of prospective students and then determine the appropriate information, counseling, and follow up strategies to assure those needs are met or exceeded
  • Develop the knowledge of the admissions process to interpret academic information from diverse colleges, effectively evaluate the student’s academic preparation, credentials, and grade trends, and independently utilize good judgment on administering or informing admissions decisions based upon the University’s admissions policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working in a customer service environment is required, preferably with high school or college students
  • The ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing with strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills and ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations
  • Demonstrated high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively
  • A valid drivers license and a clear or acceptable driving record according to University's policies
  • The ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary
  • A background in areas such as relationship building, territory-management, and presentation skills is preferred
  • Proven ability to provide independent assessment of people's interests and needs, and experience at effectively addressing those needs is preferred
  • Experience working in various software applications for communication, organization, and data management is preferred
