Position Title Post-Doctoral Fellow - Civil and Environmental Engineering The Opportunity
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the Colorado School of Mines is hiring a Post-Doctoral researcher to study the chemical and toxicological characterization of water treated during direct potable reuse (DPR). The work includes developing and evaluating chemical and toxicological methods from water and wastewater treated by a pilot-scale DPR trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2c2cpNAUf0), which will comprise laboratory and pilot-scale treatment evaluation using analytical and bioanalytical techniques. The positions will work with Prof. Tzahi Cath and Dr. James Rosenblum at Colorado School of Mines Water Technology Hub. The appointment is for one year, although renewal is possible.
Responsibilities
- Develop and perform research on waters and wastewaters using in-vitro bioassays
- Perform quantitative analysis of emerging contaminants on a liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer (LC-QQQ)
- Write and submit peer-reviewed journal publications on research from the DPR trailer
- Collaborate on the development and advancement of DPR at Mines and in Colorado
- Support proposal writing for various water and wastewater related projects
- Ph.D. in one or more specialized fields in environmental engineering, chemistry, environmental science, public health, environmental health, toxicology, or a closely related field
- PhD by September 1st, 2022, with experience in either mass spectrometry and/or in-vitro bioassays
- Ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Independent researcher
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment, and an understanding of potable reuse

Pay Range
$50,000.00
