The University of British Columbia (UBC), one of the world’s most dynamic universities, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

UBC’s vision is to create an exceptional learning environment that fosters global citizenship, advances a civil and sustainable society, and supports outstanding research to serve the people of British Columbia, Canada, and the world. Consistently ranked among the top 20 public universities globally, with campuses in Vancouver and the Okanagan, UBC has over 70,000 students and offers both intellectual riches and an unrivalled quality of life.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC enjoys an international reputation in pharmacy education, innovation in pharmacy practice, and research in the pharmaceutical sciences. Each year, the Faculty educates over 900 undergraduate students and trains more than 70 graduate students. Alumni, numbering close to 7,000, have established themselves as successful pharmacists, scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators the world over.  The Faculty is currently undergoing major expansion and investment to meet its ambitious goal of being one of the leading academic centres internationally in the pharmaceutical sciences within the next decade. The Faculty is located in a state-of-the-art $150-million, 23,000-square-metre facility, which includes a first of its kind in Canada Pharmacists Clinic.

With the current Dean completing his second term (10 years), the University is now seeking a successor for Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  The successful candidate will have an exemplary record as an educator and researcher in a related field and be eligible to be appointed as a Full Professor at UBC in the Faculty.  The new Dean will bring a commitment to the profession, demonstrated leadership experience within a well-respected university or related research organization and the capacity and vision to build on the momentum that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has achieved in recent years.  The new Dean will provide strategic leadership, ensure collaborative relationships with other Faculties and serve as an external ambassador for the Faculty with government, health authorities, and public and professional constituencies.

This is an opportunity to lead a world-class Faculty, with tremendous forward momentum, situated in a city that consistently ranks as one of the most liveable cities in the world.
