    Department Summary
University Advancement (UA) supports the University of Oregon's (UO) mission of providing exceptional teaching, discovery, and service by strategically positioning the university to create awareness, build long-term relationships, and secure resources that increase understanding and further its aims. The division consists of approximately 200 employees primarily working out of Eugene, with offices in Portland and Bend. We are committed to fostering equity and inclusion in a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment that recognizes the value of all members of our community.

The University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA) fosters lifelong relationships, deepens engagement, and advocates on behalf of the university and Duck alumni around the world. Launched in 1879, the UOAA is proud of its long history of keeping alumni connected to the university and to one another, offering a wide array of opportunities for service and engagement. With a membership of over 27,000, the UOAA serves as an important connection to the university for more than 250,000 alumni worldwide. Our vision is to be among the very best alumni relations programs in the world, uniting and engaging Ducks in all stages of flight.
    Position Summary
The UO Alumni Association (UOAA) is looking for a Program Management for Student Engagement who is focused on the customer service experience, skilled at tracking and managing details and energized by working with students and alumni. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing programs that support the transition of current students into engaged and enthusiastic alumni, especially the Student Alumni Association (SAA).

The primary goals of the SAA are to develop lifelong relationships between students and the university and to enhance the student experience by providing opportunities to connect with the broader alumni community. This student-led part of the UOAA creates and implements programs for SAA members, including social events, leadership opportunities, and professional development activities. As the program manager, you will oversee the operation of this membership-based student organization, engage in revenue-generating activities, and work with colleagues in the UOAA, University Advancement (UA), and the university to create opportunities for students to engage as future alumni. You will work closely with campus partners, including the UO Career Center, Parent and Family Association (PFA), UO Homecoming Committee, Center for Student Involvement (CSI), and Student Orientation Programs.

To succeed in this role, you will need to work independently while collaborating with your team and be motivated to generate program revenue through membership sales. You will serve as a role model for the students you work with and provide guidance and leadership to help them reach their full potential. All plans, programs, and activities must connect to the larger mission and goals of the UOAA, UA, and the UO.

The Program Manager reports to the Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement and is located in Eugene. Most of this position's work will need to take place on campus when students are present, however, some remote work may be possible. This position will regularly be required to work in the early evenings, with occasional nights and/or weekends required to staff special projects and events.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • One year of experience in program management, advising, student affairs, volunteer management, sales, or related field.
    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, advice, and guidance to a student organization.
  • Ability to supervise student employees.
  • Strong customer service skills, including building and maintaining strong working relationships with offices across campus, particularly campus partners of the SAA.
  • Ability to communicate with various audiences (students, alumni, parents, etc.), adapting communication and presentation style in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting each person's many and varied identities.
  • Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event, project, or program management, including the ability to effectively track details and connect program activities to a broader mission.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in student affairs or relevant field.
  • Professional or student experience working in student affairs or advising student organizations.
  • Experience working in sales or a similar revenue-generating field.
  • Experience creating or facilitating student internships in event management, student affairs, or leadership development.
