Type of Position: Full-time Salaried, Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: M-F 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week

Pay Grade/Pay Range: $45,856-57,320 *Actual pay depends on qualifications

Position Summary: The Video Production Specialist performs the primary responsibilities of internal and external video delivery, ensures that videos meet quality and accessibility standards, provides operational and technical support for studio and remote productions, supports scheduling and project coordination, and records and edits videos that highlight the initiative and mission of Johnson County Community College.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree or equivalent of three years full-time experience in position responsibilities
Demonstrable knowledge of video delivery techniques and the integration of accessibility software
Experience with video production equipment including all aspects of studio and remote equipment setup and operation
Demonstrable knowledge of studio and control room signal flow and troubleshooting techniques
Knowledge in the use of editing software, graphics creation software, and color correction techniques

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • PROVIDES SPECIALIZED VIDEO PRODUCTION SUPPORT - Publish external videos and manage playlists, manage internal postings behind JCCC authentication, coordinate render standards across multiple delivery platforms, recommend process improvements, coordinate the closed and open captioning of content for delivery, integrate sign language interpreters into live and edited video, work with the Production Manager to coordinate audio descriptions for accessibility. View videos and proofread text before publication to ensure quality control. a. Videos are delivered which conform to industry standards of quality. b. Operational processes and render standards are monitored and refined. c. The captioning, interpreter integration and creation of audio descriptions is coordinated among multiple departments and through external vendors.
  • PROVIDES OPERATIONAL AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR VIDEO PRODUCTIONS - Set up and operation of video production control room, production studio and remote location production equipment. Work with Production Manager to schedule productions and coordinate large projects. Work with faculty to schedule staff and reserve studio in support of journalism program classes. a. Operational needs are met in compliance with broadcasting standards. b. Scheduling and project coordination are supported to keep productivity high. c. Programs are viewed and text is proofed to maintain quality control.
  • PROVIDES CAMERA OPERATION AND VIDEO EDITING - Creates videos utilizing all aspects of video production, including camera operation, lighting, audio, editing, graphics and color correction for multiple projects. a. Video is recorded which adheres to industry standards of quality, and edited with the application of critical thought and judgment. b. Video is enhanced through the incorporation of graphics and color correction. c. Editing is undertaken with focus to meet target dates and deadlines across multiple projects.
  • MANAGE AND PRODUCE PROJECTS AND WORKFLOWS - Understands purpose of project and reaches agreement with client regarding scope. Communicates appropriately with team and stakeholders throughout all phases of project. Tracks work on department project tracker and coordinates assigned projects to achieve successful results. Correctly labels and backs up footage with agreed upon naming conventions. Tracks, stores, archives and deletes media appropriately. a. Projects are coordinated and teams are led to successful results. b. Work is tracked and media is stored, archived or deleted appropriately.
