Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now recruiting for an HVAC Technician at the Daytona Beach Campus. Responsibilities include the following:
  • Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial heating and air conditioning, refrigeration, computerized energy management and associated complex control systems, various types of food service equipment (including gas cooking equipment), hot water and steam boilers, ice storage systems, large commercial chilled water systems, air compressors and water pumps.
  • Routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintenance and inventory of all equipment assigned to the department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.
  • Responsible for inventory of cooling tower chemicals, maintaining chemicals to recommended levels, along with maintenance of associated equipment to include chemical pumps and safety equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Foreman or his/her supervisor.
  • As Needed - Attend classes or meetings that are targeted to inform the entire campus community and/or specific departments are required attendance for all employees if so instructed by Human Resources or your respective manager.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • At least two years of HVAC technical schooling or one to three years of experience in the maintenance of heating, air conditioning and related equipment.
  • Formal diploma/certificate/degree program of 6-18 months after high school. Area of study: HVAC
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Must possess a universal refrigerant recovery license (from E.P.A. approved testing agency).
  • Must be able to read blueprints, make calculations, and keep records.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required. Ability to service gas equipment (propane and natural). Knowledge of local and state laws.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry HVAC equipment short distances and push or pull a handcart. Hand/eye coordination essential for proper operation of power tools, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding and work in overhead areas on HVAC equipment and components.
  • Ability to comprehend basic instructions and to respond effectively.
  • Employee must take necessary precautions due to the nature of the equipment they are working on (electrical, propane, natural gas, power tools, etc.) to protect themselves and those around them of the hazards associated with this type of work.
