Job Description:

Fairfield College Preparatory School is an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic high school of excellence located on the campus of Fairfield University for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

Supervision of Personnel:
  • Director of Events & Stewardship

  • Director of Alumni Engagement

  • Director of Annual Giving

  • Coordinator of Advancement Services

  • Director of Parent Engagement & Philanthropy

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Minimum, Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated successful and progressively responsible fundraising management experience. Preferably in higher education.

  • Comprehensive or capital campaign leadership and management experience.

  • Embraces Jesuit education and mission.

  • Must possess good planning, administrative, verbal and writing skills, a strong work ethic, demonstrated ability to work with volunteers and donors, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Self-starter, team player, and detail oriented.

  • Commitment to confidentiality, discretion, ethical standards, and professionalism.

  • High energy and a positive attitude.

Primary Purpose & Function: The Director of Advancement & Campaigns, in partnership with the Vice President of Advancement, will provide day-to-day management and execution of the fundraising and engagement program. The Director will assist in the creation of annual performance metrics and provide oversight of annual multi-year fundraising and engagement strategies, goals and solicitations in support of its Comprehensive Campaign.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Leading and motivating development teams in the areas of annual giving, alumni engagement, parent engagement, events, stewardship and overall advancement operations.

  • Creating an inspirational culture of philanthropy through transparent communication, clear expectations and inclusiveness.

  • Establishing program plans and metrics that support advancement objectives.

  • Working with Advancement colleagues, college and external partners, and volunteers to lead specific initiatives that promote a culture of philanthropy and have a direct impact on development activities.

  • Oversee and supervise the Director of Annual Giving, the Director of Parent Engagement & Philanthropy, the Director of Events & Stewardship, the Coordinator of Advancement Services and the Director of Alumni Engagement.

  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, mentor, and evaluate high-performing professionals

  • Create training opportunities for staff to advance their professional development and overall success of the department.

  • Regularly prepare and/or provide fund raising reports to the Vice President, President and Advancement/Campaign Committee of the Board of Governors.

  • Work closely with the President, Vice President, board members, and other university administrators to jointly identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward key prospects.

  • Perform all other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Notifying supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions

  • Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials
