Job Description:

Fairfield College Preparatory School is an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic high school of excellence located on the campus of Fairfield University for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

Experience:
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and constituents, solve problems and represent Fairfield Prep to alumni

  • An innovative and entrepreneurial spirit

  • Alignment with and ability to articulate the Jesuit mission and values of Prep.

  • At least 3 years prior experience in relationship management, sales, marketing, and/or communications in a professional environment

  • A strong understanding of the uses and basic mechanics of electronic media.

  • Ability to take initiative, think outside the box and work independently.

  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and manage many different projects at once

  • Ability to interact with alumni donors and steward them effectively

  • Familiarity with databases, such as Raiser's Edge and Blackbaud, a plus

  • Trust, accountability, discretion, honesty, and teamwork.

Relevant experience in an independent school or college setting is preferred.

Fairfield College Preparatory School seeks an innovative, strategic and self-motivated Director of Alumni Engagement. This position is the extension of Fairfield Prep into the alumni community. The Director is responsible for the strategy, planning, and implementation of engagement strategies and programs that increase alumni connection and support of Prep. The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a digital, print and in-person alumni engagement strategy to strengthen relationships between Fairfield Prep and more than 12,000 alumni within the United States and around the globe. As part of Prep’s Strategic Plan 2022, and in support of an impending Comprehensive Campaign, invigorating the Alumni Network is a top priority. Cultivation of alumni will be of great importance with emphasis on creating and supporting alumni affinity groups, building effective relationships, designing alumni programming, promoting Reunion Weekend, and local and regional alumni gatherings. This position will work collaboratively with the Communications team to manage digital and print communications and social media as key tool in alumni engagement strategy. The Director of Alumni Engagement serves as an integral member of the Advancement team and will work collaboratively with the President, the Advancement team, the Marketing & Communications team, the Presidents Alumni Advisory Council and key volunteers to develop and execute programs of a local, regional, national and international interest to Prep’s alumni.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Creates content for and implements the Advancement Department’s social media strategy for alumni across several platforms.

  • Designs and executes a quarterly alumni newsletter, including writing alumni profiles, curating relevant content about programs, projects, etc

  • Implements regular communication with Prep alumni that includes direct contact, multi-platform social media, email, and alumni web pages

  • Collaborates with Communications team to design and deliver a marketing strategy for alumni, including email and digital communications and campaigns

  • Continuously updates alumni database and record-keeping for alumni cultivation, networking and programming

  • Identifies target cities with high concentration of alumni and organizes and implements regional gatherings.

  • Cultivates partnerships with Prep colleagues (including the Office of Admissions, Mission and Ministry, Guidance and College Counseling, Athletics Department among others) to build and advance alumni relationships

  • Oversees and organizes calendar and agendas for the Presidents Alumni Advisory Council

  • Works closely with VP of Advancement, Director of Advancement and Campaigns and Major Gift Officers to identify major alumni donor prospects.

  • Collaborates with, Director of Annual Giving to cultivate a philanthropic culture among Fairfield Prep alumni.

  • Supports diverse programming for alumni including overseeing and supporting the creation of affinity groups

  • Works in collaboration with Events and Stewardship office to support and drive attendance to alumni events including Reunion Weekend with support from the Advancement team.

  • Enlists, motivates and trains a corp of volunteers committed to successful alumni programming.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement of Advancement and Campaigns
