Job Summary

The Director, Assessment and Accreditation oversees the assessment of student learning outcomes at both the institutional and programmatic levels across campus. Develops and manages a comprehensive evaluation system, both formative and summative, that evaluates students, courses and program success. The Director will utilize qualitative and quantitative methods to propose and/or expand assessment strategies for programs and courses, as well as oversee reporting efforts.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Assists University leadership (credit and non-credit) with departmental and program planning and assessment processes and coordinates the reporting and utilization of assessment activities and data.
  • Develops and supports the assessment and planning processes to measure student performance in meeting its institutional student learning outcomes or competencies.
  • Collaborates with the Directors of Institutional Research & Data Analytics to communicate the purpose and intent of institutional assessment plans and ensure that accreditation requirements, including compliance with accrediting standards, are incorporated into the planning and assessment processes of the college and academic departments.
  • Maintains the information systems necessary by which various assessment practices are captured for reporting purposes
  • Creates and updates guidelines and policies that direct the implementation and collection of information in line with university policy, and provides tutorials to end users on how to use the systems.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of an accreditation management system that will facilitate compilation and presentation of evidence to confirm compliance with core requirements and comprehensive standards of the regional accreditation body.
  • Support the University and its units maintaining compliance with the University's regional accreditor and program specific accreditation
  • Manage various compliance-related projects for the University and develop various means for monitoring compliance with the accreditation standards.
  • Preparing various reports pertaining to program, regional, and national accreditations and compliances
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of webpages for the Office of Assessment and Accreditation.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems Management, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • Six years of experience in an institutional research setting at the level of assistant director.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems Management, Educational Technology, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of student learning outcome assessment best practices.
  • Knowledge of reginal accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to develop and manage a budget within fiscal allocations.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and evaluate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize data and information to make decisions and projections.
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others.
  • Ability to conduct short-range and long-range project planning studies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.
