Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,372 - $5,000 per month

Full Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month
  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.

Job Summary

Working independently under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success (IDEAS) or designees, the Academic Media Specialist supports faculty, academic support units, and other campus clients by providing consultation and developing video and multimedia materials. Projects may include video, graphics, audio, video encoding for electronic delivery, live streaming, captioning for accessibility and directing of live multi-camera campus events.

The Academic Media Specialist is expected to work independently as well as collaboratively and possess the experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments.

This position may be assigned a variety of other tasks including requirement's analysis, project management, documentation and quality assurance testing. The employee shall allocate priority and time to the duties mentioned below based upon direction from the Director for IDEASs. The manager will communicate these priorities and time allocation at least annually and when necessary.

Key Qualifications
  • Functional knowledge of the full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, videotaping, editing methods and related software programs and equipment including social media.
  • Thorough knowledge of end-to-end video production techniques and equipment, demonstrated by an understanding and use of advanced principles and theories.
  • Experience/knowledge with Service Management Tools for tracking Incidents, Requests, Problems, and Changes.
  • Experience/knowledge with Media conversion, storage, and deployment workflow.
  • Experience/knowledge with ATI (accessible technology initiative) standards for instructional materials.
  • Experience/knowledge with Data administration principles and techniques.
  • Experience/knowledge with Copyright, fair use, and TEACH Act laws and industry standards.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of media, film/video production, communication, computer science or closely related field
  • Four years’ experience in video production.
  • Extensive experience/knowledge with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Media Encoder.
  • Experience with end-to-end video production.
  • Experience in non-linear digital video editing.
  • Experience with captioning and accessibility techniques and systems.
  • Experience with live and on-demand streaming video.
  • Experience with video codecs and ability to recommend appropriate video format for desired end product.
  • Experience with creative lighting and audio techniques.
