Job Description:

 

The Department of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, and Information Systems & Cyber Security in the College of Business and Economics at Longwood University is seeking qualified applicants to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting (#F0159) beginning in August 2023. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a variety of subjects at the undergraduate level (BSBA) and graduate level (MBA), including general accounting courses and financial accounting courses. All areas of specialization will be considered. The candidate should have sufficient technical experience to provide hands-on experiences and meaningful instruction to supplement traditional textbook/lecture material for students. Applicants will be expected to contribute to excellence in education through teaching, scholarly publication in peer-reviewed outlets, and service to the college, university, and community.

 

The AACSB-accredited College of Business and Economics offers an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with concentrations in six disciplines, including Accounting, as well as a fully online MBA program. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and MBA courses in Accounting, serving on departmental committees, and performing duties assigned by the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College of Business and Economics.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited institution preferred but a terminal degree or projected award of a terminal degree in Accounting by August 01, 2023 is required.
  • Certification: Current active CPA license is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: Field experience of at least 3 years is preferred, but not required.
  • Teaching: Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment, interest in active and collaborative learning and the instructional use of technology, prior college-level and online teaching experience, enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment, and demonstrated commitment to advocating for diversity. Experience in teaching undergraduates, both face-to-face and online, from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Research: Candidate must maintain a program of research output sufficient to meet AACSB scholarly academic (SA) status requirements. Additionally, candidate must demonstrate annual progress toward scholarly output and tenure-track publication goals consistent with guidance in Longwood University's Faculty Policies & Procedures Manual.
