Position Description

The Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business Administration and Public Policy, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2023.

Department of Management and Marketing

The Mission of the Business Schoool:

We provide a quality undergraduate business education and innovative professional graduate programs to a diverse student population in the South Bay area. Our business programs prepare students for career advancement through our classroom activities and a scholarly, applied research agenda.

The Management and Marketing departments includes Management & Human Resources, Sports, Entertainment and Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship. The Management group prepares students for general management positions in either public or private organizations. Course work focuses on key business needs such managing personnel, behavioral motivations, international strategies, and conflict resolution. Students are encouraged to do internships where they can apply their management skills.

The Position

The Department of Management and Marketing is searching for someone whose primary research and teaching interest is strategic management. Ability to teach in a secondary area such as entrepreneurship is a plus. Teach undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Duties include:
  • Teaching the Strategic Management class
  • Teaching (Graduate and Undergraduate Courses in traditional, hybrid, and on-line modalities)
  • Scholarly and Creative Activities (with an emphasis on publication of peer reviewed journal articles)
  • Service/Contributions to the Institution
  • Service/Contributions to the Community
  • Assessment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a Ph.D in Business Strategy from an AACSB accredited business school.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach the undergraduate capstone course in Strategic Management.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Published papers and in process work addressing fundamental issues in strategic management.

    Employment Requirement

    Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate's, Doctor's of Philosophy).
